How we source, verify, and publish IPO information

IPO Cracker is a data-driven platform that tracks Indian IPOs end-to-end — from draft prospectus filing to listing day performance. This page documents exactly how our content is produced, what you can expect from us, and what you should not. Readers, regulators, and partners are welcome to reference this policy.

About the Platform

IPO Cracker is an independent, self-funded platform. It is not owned by or affiliated with any broker, asset manager, registrar, merchant banker, or other regulated financial intermediary.

We are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Advisor, Research Analyst, Portfolio Manager, or any other category of intermediary. We do not execute trades or manage money on behalf of users. Recommendation labels on the site (Strong Subscribe / Subscribe / Neutral / Avoid / Strong Avoid) are generated by a deterministic rules engine applied uniformly to every IPO and are informational, not advisory.

Data Sources & Attribution

Every data point displayed on IPO Cracker is aggregated from publicly available sources. We do not receive privileged information from companies, registrars, or exchanges. The tables below map each category of data to its original source:

Data CategoryPrimary Source
IPO basics (company, dates, price band, lot size)SEBI filings (DRHP / RHP), BSE & NSE corporate announcements, and public Indian IPO information portals
Grey Market Premium (GMP)Publicly available grey market quotes aggregated from industry trackers. GMP is an unofficial estimate.
Live subscription dataBSE CummDemandSchedule API, NSE ipo-bid-details API
Financials & peer valuationRHP financial statements as published on SEBI's site
Allotment statusWe do not host allotment data. We redirect users to the official registrar portal (Link Intime / MUFG, KFin, Bigshare, Cameo, Skyline, Maashitla).
NewsHeadlines and summaries are aggregated from public financial news sources. We link to the publisher for the full article and do not republish copyrighted text.

Where our tables show a value that originates from a third-party source, we retain the underlying source URL so that corrections can be traced back to the original publication.

How Our Recommendations Are Generated

Each IPO is scored by a deterministic rules engine that runs automatically whenever its data is refreshed. The engine evaluates four components:

  1. GMP momentum — the current grey market premium, normalised against the issue price, adjusted for trend direction across the last several trading sessions.
  2. Subscription demand — total, QIB, NII and retail oversubscription multiples as reported by the exchanges.
  3. Valuation — post-issue P/E versus industry peer average and RoE.
  4. Financial health — revenue growth, profit margin trend, and leverage ratios.

Missing data in any component triggers weight redistribution to the remaining signals. The composite score maps to one of five recommendation labels. The same rule set is applied to every IPO regardless of issuer, lead manager, broker affiliation, or advertising relationship.

A full breakdown of the score formula, weights, and recommendation thresholds is available in our How We Recommend guide.

What Our Recommendations Are Not

  • They are not personalised investment advice. We know nothing about your risk profile, goals, horizon, or tax situation.
  • They are not a guarantee of listing gains. Markets are uncertain and IPOs frequently list below issue price even when every signal looked positive.
  • They are not paid placements. We do not accept payment to change or inflate a recommendation.
  • They are not stock tips. Please consult a SEBI-registered Investment Advisor for advice tailored to your circumstances.

Corrections & Feedback

Accuracy matters more to us than coverage volume. If you spot a data error — a wrong date, stale GMP, wrong registrar, mis-matched peer — email us at alerts@ipocracker.com with the IPO name and the specific field. We aim to investigate within 48 hours and publish a correction on the affected page. Major corrections (wrong issue size, wrong listing price) will carry a visible "corrected on [date]" note.

Advertising

IPO Cracker may display advertising through third-party networks such as Google AdSense. Advertisements are served algorithmically by the ad network and have no editorial relationship with the content of any IPO page. Any future sponsored placement or brand partnership will be clearly labelled as such.

Privacy & User Data

We collect the minimum data required to operate the service. We do not ask for your PAN, DP ID, or demat account details. Allotment checks are performed by redirecting you to the official registrar portal — your inputs never reach our servers. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Scope & Jurisdiction

Coverage is limited to IPOs on Indian exchanges (BSE, NSE, and their SME platforms). We do not cover non-Indian listings, private placements, or secondary offerings unless they are directly relevant to an IPO we already track. The site operates under Indian law and references INR throughout.

Changes to this Policy

This policy is a living document. We revise it whenever our methodology, data sources, or disclosure obligations change. Material revisions will be noted in the "Last updated" line below; minor copy edits will not.
